Lands’ End Data Breach Settlement Offers Approximately $60 Cash or Up to $5,000 for Documented Losses
How to file a claim
Consumers affected by the December 2024 Lands’ End data security incident may be eligible to receive cash compensation and identity protection services under a proposed class action settlement.
Eligible Settlement Class Members may choose between an Alternate Cash Payment currently estimated at approximately $60, with no documentation required, or reimbursement of up to $5,000 for qualifying losses supported by receipts, statements, or other records. Class Members may also claim two years of credit monitoring and identity protection services.
The deadline to submit a claim is October 22, 2026.
Background of the Settlement
The lawsuit, Jones, et al. v. Lands’ End, Inc., Case No. 30301, is pending in the Circuit Court for Iowa County, Wisconsin.
The case concerns a data security incident that affected a portion of Lands’ End’s computer systems in December 2024. According to the settlement notice, unauthorized individuals may have accessed files containing personal information belonging to certain consumers.
The potentially compromised information included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license information, passport information and, in limited circumstances, medical information.
Lands’ End denies wrongdoing and maintains that it did not violate the law. The court has not determined that the company is liable or ruled in favor of either side. The parties agreed to the proposed settlement to avoid the expense, delay, and uncertainty of continued litigation.
Who May Be Eligible?
The Settlement Class generally includes individuals residing in the United States whose private information was compromised in the December 2024 Lands’ End data incident.
Many eligible consumers received a notice directly from Lands’ End or the Settlement Administrator. Class membership is based on Lands’ End’s records, and consumers do not need to show that they experienced identity theft or fraud in order to qualify for the no-documentation cash payment.
Certain individuals and entities are excluded from the settlement, including Lands’ End’s directors and officers, governmental entities, the judge assigned to the case, members of the judge’s immediate family, court staff, and individuals who submit a timely and valid request for exclusion.
Available Cash Payment Options
Eligible Class Members may select one of two cash benefits.
Approximately $60 With No Documentation Required
Class Members who do not have specific financial losses may claim an Alternate Cash Payment currently estimated at approximately $60.
This option does not require receipts, account statements, or a written explanation. The final payment amount may be adjusted depending on the number of valid claims submitted and the settlement’s distribution calculations.
Up to $5,000 for Documented Losses
Class Members who incurred losses related to the data incident may request reimbursement of up to $5,000.
Potentially eligible expenses may include unreimbursed identity theft or fraud losses, fees for credit reports or credit monitoring, costs associated with freezing or unfreezing credit, expenses incurred to replace identification documents, and postage or other costs related to contacting banks and financial institutions.
The claimed losses must have occurred between December 6, 2024, and October 22, 2026, and must be reasonably connected to the Lands’ End data incident.
Claimants selecting this option must provide supporting evidence, such as receipts, bank statements, invoices, correspondence, or other records. A written explanation may help provide context, but a personal statement without supporting documentation may not be sufficient.
Expenses that were already reimbursed by a financial institution, insurer, or another third party cannot be recovered again through the settlement.
Credit Monitoring and Identity Protection Benefits
In addition to one of the cash options, eligible Class Members may claim two years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete.
The service includes monitoring for identity theft, unauthorized financial activity, and personal information associated with potentially high-risk transactions. It also provides access to a fraud resolution specialist and up to $1 million in financial fraud insurance, subject to the program’s applicable terms and limitations.
Enrollment codes were distributed to Class Members by postcard. Consumers who misplaced their enrollment code may request assistance from the Settlement Administrator.
How to Submit a Claim
Claims may be submitted online or by mailing a completed paper claim form to the Settlement Administrator.
Online claims must be submitted by October 22, 2026. Mailed claims, along with any required supporting documentation, must be postmarked by the same date.
There is no fee to participate in the settlement or submit a claim. Class Members should provide complete, accurate, and truthful information, as unsupported or fraudulent claims may be rejected.
Important Settlement Deadlines
The deadline to submit a claim is October 22, 2026.
Class Members who do not want to remain legally bound by the settlement must submit a valid request for exclusion by October 7, 2026. Those who remain in the settlement but disagree with its terms may file an objection by the same date.
The Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for November 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Central Time in the Circuit Court for Iowa County, Wisconsin.
Court dates may change, so anyone considering attending the hearing should confirm the schedule with the Settlement Administrator.
When Will Payments Be Distributed?
Payments will not be issued until the court grants final approval and the settlement becomes legally effective.
If final approval is granted and no appeals are filed, the Settlement Administrator may begin processing approved claims after the remaining legal and administrative requirements have been completed. An appeal could delay payment distribution until the appellate process is resolved.
The settlement documents do not provide a guaranteed payment date.
What Happens if You Do Nothing?
Class Members who do not submit a claim will not receive a cash payment or identity protection benefits.
Unless they submit a valid request for exclusion, however, they will remain part of the settlement and will be bound by the court’s final judgment. This generally means giving up the right to bring or participate in another lawsuit against Lands’ End concerning the claims released by the settlement.
Consumers who want to receive settlement benefits must submit a valid claim by October 22, 2026.
