NBA Top Shot Privacy Settlement – Here’s How to Claim Your Cash
If you used NBA Top Shot and had a Facebook account between June 15, 2020 and January 30, 2025, you may be entitled to money from a new class action settlement.
What the Case Is About
A lawsuit claimed that NBA Properties, Inc. and Dapper Labs, Inc. shared user information from NBA Top Shot with Meta (Facebook) through something called the Meta Tracking Pixel—all without proper consent. This allegedly violated the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) and California law.
The companies deny doing anything wrong, but they agreed to settle the case rather than continue fighting in court.
How Much Money Can You Get?
If you’re eligible and you submit a claim form on time, you’ll get a pro rata share of the settlement fund. Class Counsel estimates payments will be between $36 and $122 depending on how many people file.
On top of the cash, the settlement requires NBA Top Shot to suspend the use of the Meta Tracking Pixel on its website.
Important Deadlines
Claim Form Deadline: December 16, 2025
Opt-Out Deadline: November 17, 2025
Objection Deadline: November 17, 2025
Final Approval Hearing: December 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. PT
The claim portal officially opened on September 16, 2025.
How to File a Claim
If you got a Notice ID by email or mail: File online using the claim portal.
If you didn’t get a Notice ID: Don’t worry. You can still download a paper claim form from the settlement site, fill it out, and mail it in. No receipts or proof are required—your information will be checked against company records.
What If You Do Nothing?
You won’t get any money and you’ll give up your right to sue NBA Properties or Dapper Labs about this issue on your own.
💡 Takeaway: If you had both a Facebook account and an NBA Top Shot account during the class period, you should submit a claim. Even if you didn’t get a notice, you can still file by paper form.
